jeevdhan fort and naneghat

November 14...on this date we decided to trek to JEEVDHAN FORT! Me and my friends all gathered in parking around 6 am(actually we were supposed to move till 5 am).We filled our tanks and were ready to drive 122 km (from katraj, pune)to jeevdhan fort!

After a 2hour drive we reached to SHIVNERI paytha.we took some pics had some water and were again ready to complete the remaining journey. From shivneri we went straight to GHATGHAR where we had our breakfast in temple.

Soon we got one house where we parked our bikes and asked one villager to guide us the way to top.
.

We started walking slowly and steadily enjoying the climate( it was bit cool and cloudy). That guide took us from slopes where grass had reached our heights.

we crossed that region and soon we saw rock patch.it was somewhat difficult.

We climbed that patch and saw stairs goin to top.

We all were excited to see those stairs after a 20 mins walk. We saw a cave(guffa) which was a hidden route at those times. It would take you to top directly. But we preferred climbing instead going from that cave as that guide said that some poisonous snakes can be found!

After some 10-12 stairs we came across a wall of around 25 feet tall with some notches to climb. There are some hooks placed,so if you find it difficult you can just use your rope to climb that patch.Again there were some stairs and same kinda rock patch.Soon we were near one of gates(remains are still there).

We relaxed for some time and went to top where we found maharaj's palace which had 3 rooms.it was totally dark. Thanks to guide who took a torch along with him!!We really enjoyed watching that monument and it still needs some excavation!

After that we went to one water source(pond like). Here we had our lunch and got rejuvenated.

.

After some 20 mins halt we walked to other part of fort which had one temple of JEEVAI DEVI( ancient temple) and LORD SHIVA( just some temple remains).

Now we were on top of fort and were really excited to see the clouds that surrounded us!We felt as if some one has started an A.C. for us!

We started moving down from other part of fort. This part was recently excavated.

We saw one huge entrance DOOR and some BURUJ it was some 30-40 feet high.

We went through door and we faced a rock patch. We got our ropes and and tried hard and finally we cleared it .

Infront of us we could see naneghat. It was a heavenly experience!!It was awesome!

After climbing down some stairs we were back on ground level(ghatgahar is situated around 500 mtr. above sea level). We walked to naneghat and saw KONKAN KADA.

Naneghat was the only way for the people staying there,to come in our region.During SAATVAHAN reigm(even before SHIVAJI MAHARAJ).They used to collect tax from people coming from konkan.

Entire konkan region was in front of us!We really enjoyed watching it.There are some caves where we can stay.

It was about to rain and we decided to move back to villages where we parked our bikes. We thanked that guide for showing us some really interesting things that we would have missed!

We took our bikes and were back in pune by 10 PM.

It awesome really a mind-blowing trek that we would never forget!
Soon we will be venturing to a new spot!!
